Words For Wellbeing is a charity which supports people living with mental health issues. We do this by using the written word – song lyrics, poems and prose (honestly not as highbrow as it sounds!) – in innovative, creative and interactive ways in groups to create a sense of sharing, connection and community; accessing the person beneath the diagnosis and helping them to improve their self- esteem, confidence and resilience. This is known as bibliotherapy.
To watch a short film about bibliotherapy and our work.
“I wouldn’t be here today if I hadn’t come to this group. It saved me.” P
“I can’t put into words how much I have gained…..it has been a major part of getting me back out into the world and to doing something I love. (Z who has returned to work).”
This is the best group I come to. It really takes me out of myself and makes me think. M
“You were a life saver. I don’t know what I would have done without you, I was so stuck in the house, I felt abandoned.” S
These packs of 52 cards with a short poem on each one are useful to use as an ice breaker, as a resource for groups, to liven up meetings or to use on an individual purpose or as a gift for friends and family.
